Buffalo Wild Wings Press Conference
Victims of racial discrimination at a Naperville Buffalo Wild Wings last week spoke at a press conference in Aurora this morning. They were joined by community leaders in support of sparking change in how Buffalo Wild Wings hires and trains its staff. The group also said they don’t plan to seek legal action at this time.
Sleep Out Saturday
Over the weekend, Bridge Communities held its Sleep Out Saturday – an initiative to raise awareness about homelessness. Many groups in DuPage County participated in the event, including Naperville’s Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, which brought a group of youth and adult mentors for the overnight stay outside in cardboard boxes.
Ride Assist Milestone
Today Ride Assist Naperville gave its 2000th round trip ride. The nonprofit has been providing affordable and dependable transportation for seniors to get to and from medical appointments for over two years. The program gives a piece of independence back to those seniors who can no longer drive themselves.
RegiStart Update
The nonprofit RegiStart, which set out to get every 18-year-old at Naperville North registered to vote, recently announced the results of its campaign. Ninety-three students at the high school were already registered at the start of the program and that number increased to 336 voters – 93% of the senior class. RegiStart’s founder Sean van Dril, who is also an alum of NNHS, hopes to bring the initiative to other high schools around the country. For more on how the RegiStart works, click here.
