With summer on its way out, thousands of District 204 students have returned to the classroom, like these kids at Fry Elementary.

New in the district this year are Chromebooks in the high schools – every single student will be getting one.

“By allowing kids to have these devices it opens up opportunities, just because they have access to the World Wide Web, where they might not have before,” said Allan Davenport, Director of Instructional Leadership and Innovation for District 204.

The roll out of the new tech is the latest move in the district’s one-to-one technology plan. Before this – all middle school students and some elementary school students had them.

A big use for the Chromebooks are tools like Google Classroom, which helps students and teachers collaborate in and out of the classroom.

A similar technology program is being run by District 203.
