It was announced at their last meeting that the Naperville Park District intended to issue up to $15 million in bonds to fund Southwest Community Park.
The board of commissioners held a public forum, but with no speakers on the issue, they promptly voted unanimously to approve the bond issuance.
Eleven million dollars of bonds will be used to fund the 33-acre park, with the excess bond money allotted for any additional expenses that could arise.
Construction on Southwest Community Park is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2019.
The park district also took the next step in the proposed development of the Polo Club subdivision.
A board memo read, “The property is planned to be annexed by the City of Naperville and it is identified within the annexation agreement that the property is to be annexed to the Naperville Park District as well.”
The board voted unanimously to approve the annexation.
Per the Land Cash Donation Ordinance with the City of Naperville, the park district will receive a combination of land and cash for the donation required for the development.
Naperville City Council is scheduled to discuss the Polo Club development at their next meeting on September 4.
