CityGate Centre North has gotten the go-ahead for construction from Naperville City Council.
At its latest meeting, council unanimously approved the $60.2 million event center, which will be coming to Corporate Lane, just north of the Route 59/I-88 interchange.
The 6,600-seat facility will feature two NHL-sized rinks, and an on-site restaurant.
Its primary purpose will be on-ice activities, and although hosting a USHL hockey team would limit the amount of nights available for events, the arena could also be used as a concert and event space, much like the Allstate Arena.
Residents of the neighboring monarch landing subdivision will receive a buffer of fencing and landscaping. A walking path and picnic grove will also be added as amenities.
The building is targeted to be complete by Fall 2020.
