The city is evaluating how to better utilize the 4,044 parking spaces in downtown Naperville.
And at the recent Downtown Parking Summit Open House, the community got the chance to give their feedback.
“Downtown parking is a really critical asset, it’s also a very costly asset and we want to make sure we’re using it to the best of its ability. We know that a lot of people have a stake in downtown parking and have a lot of ideas about downtown parking,” said Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation, Engineering and Development with the City of Naperville, Jennifer Louden.
The open house featured displays explaining the city’s eight downtown parking principles, like parking should be free and convenient for patrons, and shared to maximize the use of land.
Attendees could ask city staff questions and then fill out a survey, giving their feedback on the current state of downtown parking.
This will be used in future parking planning.
The city will be conducting a detailed downtown parking study in late summer.
