Giving DuPage wants you to “do good” in Naperville for an entire year. Yesterday the not-for-profit held a kickoff event at St. Benedictine University for its biggest initiative yet: DoGOOD DuPage.
“Giving DuPage has been around for 15 years,” Giving DuPage President Paul Feith said. “This is the first time we’ve done something this big, with this far of a reach at this high of a level. So we’re just excited to really do something that’s going to make a huge impact on the county, something in this space, that’s just never been done before.”
It calls for 150,000 people all across the county to volunteer and donate, then share their stories on the Giving DuPage website.
You can sign up to help in four categories: volunteering, donating items, creating awareness, or celebrating volunteers.
DuPage County Board Member Robert Larsen, District 6, says not-for-profits like giving DuPage fill in gaps the county can’t.
“There just isn’t the money to go out there and fill that up,” Larsen said. “But volunteerism can fill that up. Donations can fill that up. We can’t just look to Springfield anymore to fix our problems. We can do it locally.”
