The mission to clean up the busy streetscape of Ogden Avenue continues.
Naperville City Council voted unanimously to approve the use of the city’s name and logo on monument signs at major intersections along the road.
The proposal intends to bring a more uniform look to Ogden and welcome drivers to Naperville at the border.
Councilmembers did express reservations that the signage could be interpreted as an endorsement of the businesses on the sign.
“This does feel a little bit like an endorsement in that some signs would have it and some would not,” said Councilwoman Rebecca Boyd-Obarski. “And I really don’t think we could prohibit someone from taking a photograph of that or having a video.”
Once drafted, the ordinance is expected to be approved at the next city council meeting.
