There’s a new plan proposed for Old Nichols Library

Developers Dwight Avram and Jeff Brown have presented the City of Naperville with plans for a $21 million, four-story commercial/residential building at the Old Nichols site.

The mixed-use development would feature a first floor for retail and commercial development, with the other three floors used for residential units.

The development will wrap around the south and east sides of the existing building, and will incorporate the historic structure, without removing any of the current exterior walls.

There would also be a parking garage added underneath the proposed development, for residential use.

The proposal will go before the Naperville Historic Preservation Commission on May 24.

An estimated $1.24 million in taxes would come from the new property, if approved.
