A future Naperville park could be getting some funding help from the state via a grant.
The Naperville Park District recently went down to Springfield to apply for an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development, or OSLAD grant, for the planned Southwest Community Park.
Their application for a $400,000 grant is one of 108 projects that are seeking funding from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
OSLAD grants are awarded to local governments to develop land for public outdoor recreation.
Park district officials said that the IDNR doesn’t know when the application results will be announced, but they typically aim to make a decision in time for the construction season.
The park district has already taken out $11 million in loans to fund Phase One of Southwest Community Park.
