It was a “paw-some” President’s Day for a group of kids who spent their day off of school at the Naperville Area Humane Society.

Kids ages 8-11 got their hands dirty making dog treats, while also learning about animal welfare and safety.

“I just wanted to learn how you should take care of them, how they would look if they were scared, and their emotions,” said attendee Kelton.

“I think it’s exciting to work with all the different animals and to get really up close to them. I think it’s a good experience,” said attendee Luke.

They even took a tour of the shelter and met with the cats and dogs up close.

The shelter’s next big event will be on April 26, when they’ll put on “Top Dog Winter Golf” at Top Golf in Naperville. All proceeds will benefit the dogs and cats of the humane society.
