And five local veterans were wrapped with comfort and honor at the Rotary Club of Naperville’s latest meeting:

Wayne Fischer, John Kunsch, Mike Barbour and Michael Rechenmacher each received a Quilt of Valor, along with Terry Jelinek whose wife accepted it on his behalf.

Volunteers from around the nation donate their time and talents adding patches, each with a heart-felt message of thanks for the recipients’ service, sacrifice, and valor in serving our country.

“It’s something that’s designed for each of us and it’s not just something to keep you warm but something to be very proud of,” said Fischer, Marine Corps Veteran. “It’s a cherished memento.”

“I’m very honored to be here today and I think it is wonderful that the Rotary and this country continue to honor veterans,” said Kunsch, Army Veteran.

To date, the national Quilt of Valor Foundation has presented more than 170,000 quilts to veterans nationwide.
