It’s the Year of the Pig and in honor of that, Ray Chinese School celebrated by putting on performances symbolizing good luck and prosperity.
Since its inception 26 years ago, the K-9 school has put on this annual spring event showcasing Chinese culture.
“These kind of programs are just so important to kind of get to know your culture and keep connected to it,” said Janet Yang Rohr, an alumna of Ray Chinese School.
Over 1,000 people were in attendance for the show. Performances ranged from groups singing a kid friendly song, to a great display of martial arts.
It was a chance to share tradition along with a greater message.
“The message here today is about looking forward into the future in a positive way, and that transcends into all cultures. It’s something that is picked up not only through language, but through visual arts. You certainly feel it here today,” said Grant Wehrli, state representative of the 41st district.
