With a scoop of the shovels, ground was broken by community leaders for Rotary Harmony Park.
The musical spot in the making is a collaboration between Century Walk and the Rotary Club of Naperville – and the idea originated from a Rotary International conference in Atlanta.
“We came across Freenotes, the outdoor musical instruments that are absolutely beautiful in their tone – All weather, year-round instruments,” said Alma Jones, programs chair for the Rotary Club of Naperville. “John and I said that we have to do this in Naperville.”
The $60,000 park will bring two percussion and two chime instruments to the north side of the Riverwalk, close to Aurora Avenue and Rotary Hill.
Passers-by will be free to improvise and play whatever they want on the outdoor instruments.
Construction is expected to take about three weeks.
