There’s a stroll with a bit of a scare at the Morton Arboretum. Scarecrow, that is. About 30 of the straw filled fellas line the meadow lake trail at the arboretum.
It’s a tradition there each fall when local scout troops get to stuffing and submit their own creations for display.
Offerings range from the spooky to the Seuss-y, and are a fun find as visitors head down the path.
“People come out, they check out all the whimsical creations that these scout troops have created,” said Patti MacMillan, public relations specialist at the Morton Arboretum. “You can even vote for your favorite, and we tally that up at the end of the month and find out who is everybody’s favorite scarecrow.”
The display is part of the Arboretum’s Fall Color Festival, and will be up every day in October.
