Naperville City Council discussed the allocation of funds from SECA.
More than 50 projects will receive SECA funding in 2019. The largest shares were awarded to The Exchange Club of Naperville’s Ribfest and the Naperville Jaycees’ Last Fling, though both events will not receive their full ask.
Two representatives from the Jaycees spoke before council to request the dais to reconsider the SECA Commission’s recommendation.
Some councilmembers seemed willing to allocate 2018’s underspend toward fulfilling their request, but when it came to a vote, council denied the motion 6-3.
The Jaycees will receive $171,000 of their $189,979 request
The SECA Commission will present its vision for the future of the fund to council on April 29.
