Southwest Community Park Grant Application

Southwest Community Park is one of the larger-scale projects currently being pursued by the Naperville Park District.

To help fund the project, the park district recently approved the issuance of up to $15 million in bonds.

That financial burden might be eased slightly thanks to an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development Grant, also known as an OSLAD Grant.

The park district is applying to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for the maximum $400,000 development grant to help fund Phase I of the project, which will include two large multi-purpose athletic fields, trails throughout the park, a splash pad, and other amenities.

The board of commissioners also awarded the development of Phase I of Southwest Community Park to Upland Design, who worked with the park district on developing the master plan for the site.
