The New Year offered an opportunity to reflect and look ahead on the year for DuPage County.
DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin recently addressed a group of chambers of commerce on the state of the county.
“What I wanted to report is that things look pretty good at least when you compare DuPage County to other regions of the state,” said Cronin.
Hosted by Chamber 630, the event offered the opportunity to reflect back on 2018 and look forward to the chairman’s goals for 2019 – including the dissolution of the DuPage County Election Commission.
“If there ever was a mandate to the public, it would be this issue,” said Cronin. “We’ve been planning for it for the last several years. I want to make sure it’s done in a responsible way. I want to make sure that there’s no barriers, that there’s no legal impediment. That we stand shoulder to shoulder with the clerk and help make sure that it does in fact work. It seems to me like this is a very opportune time to do it.”
Cronin also discussed his policies of consolidating units of government, an issue that was overwhelmingly supported in November’s general election.
The luncheon concluded after a question and answer session with Chairman Cronin.
