Moser Tower isn’t just for show; the carillon it holds is playing concerts all summer long.
The bells of the Millennium Carillon rang over Rotary Hill, where an audience had set up lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the music.
This was the first of the carillon’s Tuesday night recitals, which feature a rotating cast of carillonneurs from all over the United States and even the world.
Brandon Blazo from Chicago played the first recital; this was also his first time playing our carillon.
“It’s not only playing it, you’re sharing your music with the community, there were people out on the lawn this evening, there are people downtown so it’s wonderful to play an instrument and share it,” said Blazo.
Carillon concerts also take place on Saturdays and Sundays, and they’re all free.
