Hinsdale South is the site for the girls gymnastics sectional with Neuqua Valley and the Waubonsie/Metea co-op teams competing for a trip to state. Naperville North and Central both have individuals looking to advance as well.

We pick up on the high bar with Centrals Hailey Haumann, who has seemed to master her dismount, a double back tuck with a stuck landing and a great celebration for a 7.9 score.

Senior Co-Op member Kaity Stocco starting her bars routine on the spring board. She rotates around on the high bar before transitioning down to the low bar. For the exit a clean layout with feet glued to the mat for an 8.452 score.

We stick with the war-stangs and move over to vault with junior Thalia Bowen. She goes full speed down the run away, off the spring board with a stukahara layout, tying for fifth place with a 9.325 score.

Sophomore Huskies Kelsey Sumser looks to make another trip to state on vault.. she performs a yurenchenko layout and lands herself tied for 3rd place, and 4th in the all around, moving on to state.

Top on the vault, no surprise here, Neuqua’s Jane Riehs. She performs a yurechanko layout as well, for a 9.4 score and tops on the podium,

Continuing with the wildcats, just over to the beam with Neuqua’s Olivia Nelson. She performs a back walkover back handspring at the beginning of her routine… Little later on dismounts with a front layout for a 9.3 score and 2nd place on beam.

Another top place on the podium would go to Jane Riehs on the beam… after falling at regionals, she rocked out her back handspring layout this time and the dismount of a back handspring one and a half to land first on beam and 3rd in the all around.

Top gymnast of the night would be Lincoln-Ways Grace Kmak. Her bars routine would be the best of the night with a 9.325 score which helped her to the all around win and helped LW to a sectional win with 141.85 points.
