Weather pushing the Crosstown Classic to a new time… and a new place. No longer at North Central College on Friday, Central hosting North and quarterback Anthony Gabrione. Redhawks looking for a third win in a row over North.

Scoreless game in the opening quarter. Sam Jackson taking the snap and then deciding to hop on the expressway. And he’s weaving in and out of traffic. The long run sets up the Redhawks deep in Huskie territory.

First and goal from the 8, Jackson winds up but his bullet is deflected… however, it lands into the waiting hands of Keon Green. Touchdown Central.

Second quarter, Gabrione looking to answer – moves around in the pocket before uncorking one to the endzone. The contested ball is won by Zeke Williams… but a penalty negates the score. North would punt.

Still second quarter, Gabrione tries to stick it on Williams again but it falls incomplete… lots of contact but no flags. Turnover on downs.

Central opening the second half with a bang. Elijah Jordan rumbling his way to the painted area – Redhawks lead 14-0.

Quiet day so far for Matt Maschmeier… until he North turns to the Wildcat at the Huskies star rips off a big chunk play.

Looks like the same play design moments later, but this time, Maschmeier u-turns and then throws to Williams. The completion cuts the Redhawks’ lead in half.

We’re not done with Maschmeier either. Gabrione back under center and he’s throwing it up for number 1 to come down with… and what a spectacular catch, but a sack ends the drive.

That proves costly as Jackson lasers a pass to Jadon Thompson and that puts the game away. Redhawks win 23-7, improving to 2-3.
